![]() I can easily remember when Pearl Jam originally released the album titled Ten. I was a teenageer in high school looking for an outlet and an explanation to life and what I was going through during that time.
While that was prolific at the time I can now look back and see where I was right, wrong, or indiferrent. While it is strange to think back at that point in my life, I find it even more awkward that Pearl Jam would re-release Ten. I know they have often said they did not like the original production of their widely popular album, but what they have put out now seems like a watered down version of what I remember being an important part of my teenage years. Songs like Porch and Alive don't give me the same feel they once did 18 years ago with Brendan O'Brien's production. I am not in anyway dissing Brendan's production as he has done some amazing things in the past with Pearl Jam and other bands like System of a Down, but what was done here seems a bit contrived and really not much different than the original release. The true greatness of this album/re-release revolves around the b-sides or previously unreleased songs such as 'Brother' and 'Just a Girl'
